Wow, oh wow! Hang on to your seat because this book will take you for a ride and you will find you need to breathe again and stop your head from spinning! One thing I realized right after I read the first chapter was, NEVER read books by this author late at night! OH MY GOODNESS! With all her books I never know who the bad guy is until the end. I think I know and then don't! WOW! She really has fantastic skills! It's also the kind of book where you REALLY don't want to put it down because you want to finish, but then you also don't want to pick it up because you don't know what's going to happen! The story just keeps getting more intense and scarier, sending shivers up and down the spine. In this story, we find Harper, who has had some pretty tough things happen to her and she is living with constant fear in her life. No one will believe her. She comes to the town of Fog Lake in hopes of finally putting an end to her fears. She meets the local Sheriff, Luke, who is dealing with lots of loss in his life too. He has a hard time trusting others, yet feels responsible to protect everyone around him. Their lives are quickly intertwined and they soon find they need to depend on each other if they are ever going to solve this mystery. You will get caught up with all the colorful descriptions and words Christy Barritt uses from the very first page to the very last. “Thick and pregnant with gray moisture, wisps of air played hide-and-seek with anyone caught in its mist.” Now doesn’t that just send chills down your spine? It really sets the stage for the name of the town, Fog Lake! This story has so much packed into it, it was hard to breathe sometimes. My heart was pounding and my mind was going fast trying to figure out how it was all going to end. If you LOVE mystery, suspense, and action, you will love this book! This story will keep you on the edge of your seat until you finish it. Be prepared to not put it down, even to eat or sleep! I received this book from the author to give an honest review. All opinions are my own. I highly recommend you pick this book up!
